Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAA)

In spring 2022, the University was awarded £5.2M across a portfolio of UKRI Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAA), the fifth largest award made in this round of funding. The University currently holds a full complement of IAAs (except for ESRC, the timeline for which differs from the other UKRI IAAs):

AHRC

The College of Arts manages the AHRC Impact Acceleration Account. There are a two routes towards accessing AHRC IAA support - the Impact Generation Fund and the Mobility Fund. It is strongly recommended to contact a member of the CoA AHRC IAA Team via email (arts-iaa@glasgow.ac.uk) for advice and guidance well in advance of submission.

BBSRC

The College of MVLS manages a BBSRC Impact Acceleration Account. The fund aims to increase, advance and accelerate the achievement of impact from BBSRC investments. For information and enquiries please email Louise Mason.

EPSRC

The College of Science and Engineering manages the EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account. This fund supports a range of Knowledge Exchange (KE) interventions with a focus on small-scale investments that pump-prime wider KE activities and impact generation. The EPSRC IAA typically provides two core funding streams to build on previous EPSRC-funded projects, proof-of-concept, and collaborative development.

ESRC

The ESRC Impact Acceleration Account supports Knowledge Exchange activity and impact generation in research areas falling within the ESRC portfolio. The University has held successive IAAs and is currently awaiting the outcome of deliberations by ESRC (decision expected sometime in autumn 2022). It is expected that applications will involve an external partner from the public, private or third sector, and an assessment of potential impact generation is a critical part of the application review process. Calls are made three times a year. There is also a small grants fund.

Please contact the College of Social Science Research Office for information and enquiries SocSci-ESRC-IAA@glasgow.ac.uk.

STFC

The College of Science and Engineering manages the STFC Impact Acceleration Account. This fund supports a range of Knowledge Exchange (KE) interventions with a focus on small-scale investments that pump-prime wider KE activities and impact generation.
