Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAA)

In spring 2022, the University was awarded £5.2M across a portfolio of UKRI Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAA), the fifth largest award made in this round of funding. The University currently holds a full complement of IAAs:

AHRC

The College of Arts manages the AHRC Impact Acceleration Account. There are a two routes towards accessing AHRC IAA support - the Impact Generation Fund and the Mobility Fund. It is strongly recommended to contact a member of the CoA AHRC IAA Team via email (arts-iaa@glasgow.ac.uk) for advice and guidance well in advance of submission.

BBSRC

The college of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences manages the BBSRC Impact Acceleration Account. The BBSRC IAA facilitates the development of impact from research, including forging new collaborations with industry and strengthening existing external, non-academic collaborations. A key aspect of this is to support knowledge exchange and early-stage commercialisation projects to the point at which further funding can be successfully sought. For information and enquiries please contact mvls-innovation@glasgow.ac.uk or the MVLS Translational Research Initiative (TRI) Team.

EPSRC

The College of Science and Engineering manages the EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account. This fund supports a range of Knowledge Exchange (KE) interventions with a focus on small-scale investments that pump-prime wider KE activities and impact generation. The EPSRC IAA typically provides two core funding streams to build on previous EPSRC-funded projects, proof-of-concept, and collaborative development.

ESRC

The ESRC Impact Acceleration Account supports engagement, knowledge exchange and impact generation in research areas falling within the ESRC portfolio. The University has held three successive ESRC IAAs, the most recent of which runs from 2023-28. During this period, there will be two open calls and one themed call per year. It is expected that applications will involve external partners from the public, private or third sector.

MRC

The college of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences manages the MRC Impact Acceleration Account. Aimed at accelerating the transition of research from discovery science to the early stages of innovative science, by supporting proof-of-concept studies, pump-priming and feasibility studies. The MRC IAA aims to accelerate development by providing locally-administered, responsive and flexible funding to support the drive impact from research. For information and enquiries please contact mvls-innovation@glasgow.ac.uk or the MVLS Translational Research Initiative (TRI) Team.

STFC

The College of Science and Engineering manages the STFC Impact Acceleration Account. This fund supports a range of Knowledge Exchange (KE) interventions with a focus on small-scale investments that pump-prime wider KE activities and impact generation.
