Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) Code of Practice and Implementation Guidance

Guidance has been reviewed and approved by the Learning & Teaching Committee

The GTA Code of Practice was approved by Education Policy and Strategy Committee in June 2021 but requested some further work on implementation.  A small implementation group produced guidance which has now been approved at the May 2022 meeting of the Learning and Teaching Committee.

The guidance has been created to complement the templates provided within the Code but divides the Code into themes to help Schools implement. These are:

  • Training provision and payment
  • GTA Facilitator role
  • Payment for all elements of the role
  • Induction
  • Feedback on teaching
  • GTA Voice
  • Peer Support

Deans of L&T can provide further details. The Academic Digital Development Unit also maintains GTA Network Moodle pages and run GTA Network events.
