UofG improves position in Leiden rankings

There has been a slight improvement in the University of Glasgow’s overall ranking in the CWTS Leiden Ranking 2019 table, based on the proportion of publications in the top 10% most-cited worldwide.

Glasgow has moved up three places from 60th in 2018 to 57th in 2019. When compared with other Russell Group institutions, the improvement is slightly more impactful, with UofG increasing its ranking by five places, moving from 15th in 2018 to 10th in 2019.

UofG's position among the Scottish universities included in the rankings remains unchanged year-on-year, and it remain in 3rd place behind Edinburgh and Dundee, both of which have dropped in the rankings.

Glasgow Science Festival named Best Scottish Festival

Glasgow Science Festival has been named the Best Scottish Festival for the second year in a row at the Scottish Hospitality Awards 2019.  This year's GSF is due to be launched on 6 June.

 

Success for Computing Science postgraduate student in the F Factor

Congratulations go to Marius Vinickis, MSci Computing Science at the University of Glasgow, who along with Lydia Jones from Liverpool has beaten hundreds of entrants to be finalists in the F Factor - a nationwide start-up competition that aims to give young people experience of starting a business as well as introductions to advisers and investors. The winners in the two age groups — 14 to 18 and 19 to 25 — will receive a £10,000 grant.
