New courses for staying safe online and data protection

Published: 19 August 2019

Both courses are mandatory

Information Security

Being aware of online risks is now more important than ever and avoiding falling victim to these threats requires constant vigilance - but also you need to have the knowledge to make informed choices and decisions.

Learning how to protect yourself can not only defend your personal data and in some cases your money but can help protect those around you – your family, friends and colleagues.

UofG have developed an online course highlighting current threats and providing practical advice on how to avoid them. You will also find out which services UofG supports to carry out online tasks like sharing files safely. The course takes about an hour to complete and is divided into short sections so can you can spread it over several days if you prefer.

This course is now mandatory for staff.

Data Protection

The University has also developed a General Data Protection Regulation course, which is also mandatory, and is designed to ensure that staff are fully aware of the implications that the new data protection legislation may have on how we all manage personal data.
