On 21 November, students, staff and alumni will gather together to mark Transgender Day of Remembrance, writes Erin Ross, SRC Vice President (Student Support).

We welcome everyone from the transgender community in Glasgow to join us for a day to memorialise those who have lost their lives as a result of transphobia, to bring attention to the violence the transgender community faces, and to encourage each other in our fights for trans livelihoods without hatred and prejudice.

We will be raising the transgender flag at the North Front (adjacent to the Quincentenary Commemorative Gates) at 12 noon, and will come together at 7pm in the Gilchrist Postgraduate Club to hear some speeches. This will be followed by a candlelight vigil in the Cloisters, and afterwards an opportunity to socialise at the Gilchrist.
