A range of resources that map the boundaries of the United Kingdom such as; electoral constituencies, local authority areas, and health boards.

Westminster

Scotland

Scotland has 59 of the UK’s 650 parliamentary constituencies.

England

England has 533 of the UK’s 650 parliamentary constituencies.

Wales

Wales has 40 of the UK’s 650 parliamentary constituencies.

Northern Ireland

Devolved Parliaments and Assemblies

Scotland

The Scottish Parliament has 73 constituencies and 8 regional constituencies electing 129 MSPs (Members of the Scottish Parliament).

Wales

The Welsh Parliament / Senedd has 40 constituencies and 5 regional constituencies electing 60 MSs (Members of the Senedd).

Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland Assembly / Stormont has 18 constituencies electing 90 MLAs (Members of the Legislative Assembly). The boundaries are the same as those for Westminster constituencies.

Unitary (Local) Authorities / Councils / Wards

The administrative local government divisions are known by various names throughout the United Kingdom.

Scotland

Each of Scotland’s 32 Unitary Authorities are further sub-divided into areas known as Wards.

England

England has 9 Regions, which are further sub-divided to make up England’s local authority areas.

The local authority areas are variously named as Unitary Authorities, Counties, Metropolitan Districts, Metropolitan Borough Councils, District Councils, and London Boroughs. Some of these areas are sub-divided into areas known as wards.

Some of the local authority areas in England are parished, the parish being the lowest tier in local government hierarchy.

Wales

Each of Wales’ 22 Unitary Authorities are further sub-divided into areas known as Wards and Communities.

Northern Ireland

Each of Northern Ireland’s 11 Local Government Districts are further sub-divided into areas known as Wards.

Scotland has 14 NHS boards

England

England has 36 Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) There is one ICB in each ICS area. (These replaced 106 Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) on 1 July 2022.)

Wales

Wales has 7 Local Health Boards (LHBs)

Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland has 5 Health and Social Care (HSC) Trusts.
