Investment Framework

The University's high level investment framework can be summarised in a single slide. It shows the various stages of a project's lifecycle, how these stages map to decision points (or "gates"), and therefore when a Business Case should be prepared and submitted. The framework is designed for a large investment project but can also usefully be applied to smaller projects.

The University's approach to documenting benefits realisation is still being considered.

Funding Sources for Strategic Investments

In addition to General Funds and Equipment budgets, there are a range of other funding sources available to support investments which contribute to the University's strategy. These funding sources are structured around specific areas of the University's strategy including Research, Learning & Teaching, Innovation, Internationalisation and Sustainability. In addition, where Colleges generate a financial surplus, part of this surplus is available to fund investments in the following 4 years. Any investment seeking to access these funding sources must submit a Business Case to Investment Committee.
