This sketchbook is principally made up of pencil drawings and watercolours made during Mr Binstead’s journey on the S.S. Garmoyle from Glasgow to the Isle of Dogs in April 1901. There are also a number of other sketches and watercolours from Mr Binstead’s travels during the late 1890s and the early 1900s. This sketchbook contains a total of thirty-nine images and are displayed within five photo galleries, numbered one to five.
The second sketchbook features scenes around Dover and Folkestone in the summer of 1908. There are a variety of sketches, mostly watercolours, vessels at anchor in and around the harbours, and of locales around the cliffs. As with the first sketchbook, this second sketchbook contains a total of thirty-nine images and are displayed within five photo galleries, numbered six to ten.
