Leading Enhancement in Assessment and Feedback
About the LEAF project
The Assessment and Feedback Toolkit was developed as part of the Leading Enhancement in Assessment and Feedback (LEAF) project at the University of Glasgow. The LEAF project grew out of the 2011-2014 QAA Enhancement Theme of ‘Developing and Supporting the Curriculum’, and sought to assess and improve assessment and feedback practice at the University.

Phase 1
The Leading Enhancement in Assessment and Feedback (LEAF) project began as an LTDF funded bid to make assessment and feedback more effective and efficient.
Phase 1 of the project was headed by Dr Vicky Gunn (PI) and Dr David Talbot (RA), with Dr Amanda Sykes taking over as PI later in the project. The LEAF team looked at Curriculum Mapping and Assessment Blueprinting within the Scottish context, and worked to adapt the TESTA (Transforming the Student Experience through Assessment) methodology to the University of Glasgow curriculum. The project involved a consortium of Russell Group Universities, with the intention of comparing findings across the institutions.
Phase 2
Phase 2 of the LEAF project (Dr Amanda Sykes (PI), Dr Maxine Swingler (Co-PI), Dr Jason Bohan (Co-PI), Elina Koristashevskaya (RA)) focused on building a resource to support enhancement in assessment and feedback practice across the University – the result of which is the Assessment and Feedback Toolkit. In October 2015, the LEAF team organised a Symposium for assessment and feedback practice at the University of Glasgow, with delegates from each of the four Colleges of the University, and both internal and external speakers. Feedback from the Symposium fed directly into the development of the Assessment and Feedback Toolkit, with the goal of providing a resource that would benefit the University as a whole. We are still looking for feedback on the Toolkit, so if you would like to get in touch, please see the contact section.
