JUNE 2022

This edition of our Connect newsletter marks the second of our four issues showcasing the priority pillars of our new international strategy, Global Glasgow 2025 – Global Reputation, Global Research, Global Partnerships and Global Recruitment.

This month we turn our attention to Global Research, which seems timely given the release of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) results at the end of last month as well as the opening of our Mazumdar-Shaw Advanced Research Centre (ARC) on our Gilmorehill Campus on the 8th of June, both of which are covered in this month’s newsletter.

I am also delighted that we have been able to include an article by our Vice-Principal for Research, Professor Chris Pearce, who reflects on the importance of global collaboration within the context of our institutional research strategy. As a global, research-intensive institution our international research collaborations are of vital importance to us. Universities cannot thrive in isolation; addressing the grand challenges of our time will require both cross-disciplinary and cross-border cooperation, and as proud members of Universitas 21, The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities and the CIVIS European University Alliance, we know that we can achieve more by working together – thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Best wishes,
Rachel Sandison
