DECEMBER EDITION

As the remarkable year of 2020 draws to a close, we are all reflecting on the many challenges that our institutions have faced during the global pandemic, as well as our various successes. At Glasgow, we have been able to maintain regular contact with many of our partners and I’m delighted that our work together has never lost momentum.

We're thrilled to have been named the Times Higher Education University of the Year 2020, in recognition of our work to redress our historic links to slavery through a programme of reparative justice. We are hugely grateful for our partners and external advisors, including our significant partnership with The University of the West Indies, which led to us co-establishing the Glasgow-Caribbean Centre for Development Research.

Eurasia and South Asia is an incredibly diverse, vibrant and important region for Glasgow. In this issue of Connect, Professor Moyra Boland, Dean for Global Engagement for this region, details recent activities, including online events spanning multiple partners and a focus on the commercial world.

On behalf of the University of Glasgow, I would like to wish all of you a successful, productive and, most of all, safe 2021 when it comes.

With best wishes,
Professor William Cushley
Assistant Vice-Principal International
