Research vision

My research vision is to assist vulnerable patient populations with the opportunity to self-manage their own health by developing, evaluating and commercialising new medical and assistive technologies.

To improve our understanding on how our body moves through the analysis and interpretation of muscle activity and other electrophysiological signals in order to further understand the neurophysiological involvement during abnormal movements (i.e. Parkinson’s Disease, pathological tremor) or task failure (i.e. fatigue).

I would then apply this knowledge and understanding into assessing different interventions aiming to gather quantitative data reflecting the improvement (or not) that they have (i.e. orthotic interventions) which will have an impact into clinical decision-making and policy. This will further allow me to continue in the development and manufacture of healthcare technologies that will have a positive impact in others’ quality of life. 

Expectations from collaboration

I am looking for different types of collaborator so I can further my research portfolio into different areas such as:

  • Sports research (training, rehabilitation, prophylactic);
  • Occupational therapists interested in research;
  • Someone working on neurological disorders with motor control involvement;
  • Someone interested in applying electromyography in their research to explain/understand more about their topic.
