Registration and Enrolment for continuing undergraduate Arts & Humanities students

You must register and enrol online before you start the next year of your course.

You should complete registration and enrolment as soon as possible but no later than Friday 15 September 2023.

I am progressing to level 2

Complete registration and enrolment by Friday 15 September 2023.

To progress automatically to your second year you need to:

  • have completed 120 credits in your first year with a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 9 (D3) or above (CA equates to D3 for this purpose)

  • have received a grade of D3 or above for every course (For beginners language courses,  C3 for progression in the language) (CA equates to D3 (C3 for Beginners Languages) for this purpose)

Please speak to the Arts Advising Team if you’ve not met the above requirements as you will not be able to register and enrol for the new academic year.

Enrolling on a course without having met the entry requirements

If you’ve been given permission to enrol on a course without having met the normal entry requirements, you must contact the Arts Advising team either to enrol you or point you to the person who can do this for you.

Enrolling on a course you have taken in a previous session

If you have been given permission to take a course you have already taken in a previous session, contact the Subject Area or Course Administrator to enrol on this course as you will be unable to do this yourself.

Selecting courses for your second year

You normally require to take 120-credits this year, at least 80 of these credits must be at Level 2 in order to progress to Honours.

It is important to consider any potential clashes with your chosen courses. MyCampus will notify you of any clashes.

Furthermore, when selecting your courses at level 2, please consider the Honours entry requirements.

The following subjects can only be taken as Joint Honours degrees:

  • Celtic Civilisation (please note that if you qualify for Celtic Civilisation, this also qualifies you for Single or Joint Honours in Celtic Studies. Celtic Studies requires you to study 40 credits of either Modern Gaelic (beginners, intermediate, advanced), Medieval Welsh or Old Irish) in your honours years.
  • Portuguese
  • Russian
  • Scottish History (this has the same Honours entry requirements as Single or Joint Honours History)

I am progressing on a General Humanities (3-year) degree

Complete academic and financial registration with the University, then contact the Arts Advising team who will make you an individual appointment with a Senior Adviser of Studies to discuss your curriculum and check you are on suitable courses.

I am progressing to a Junior Year Abroad (JYA) or Language Year Abroad (LYA)

You are still required to complete academic and financial registration with the University of Glasgow ahead of your year abroad.

Check your subject administrator has enrolled you for the correct number of credits for your year abroad. You should also make sure your Honours subject approves the courses you’ve chosen at the institution you’re studying at for your year abroad.

I am progressing to Junior/Senior Honours

Complete registration and enrolment by Friday 15 September 2023.

Do not choose or enrol on any specific courses until you’ve received instructions from your degree subjects.

To progress to your Junior Honours year you must:

  • ensure you are on the correct Plan in MyCampus for your chosen Honours degree. Contact the Arts Advising Team if you are not on the correct Plan. The Advising Team are the only people who can make any changes to your academic plan.
  • have 240 credits with a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 9 or above (CA equates to 9 for this purpose)
achieve a grade or D3 or better in at least 200 of your 240 credits (CA equates to D3 for this purpose)
  • at least 80 of your credits must be at Level 2 in at least 2 subjects
  • achieve the subject specific entry requirements for Honours in the first sitting
  • meet any other specific entry requirements for your chosen subject (check this with your subject administrator or convener if you are not sure).

Contact the administrator or convener of your Honours subjects if you are not sure if you are taking the correct number or type of courses in each Honours year. This information should be in your Honours handbooks for your subject.

I am having issues completing registration and enrolment

The University has developed extensive guidance to support students through the registration and enrolment process. Please review the Registry webpages for guidance on how to complete registration and enrolment.

If you can’t complete registration and enrolment, or if the University hasn’t contacted you to confirm you can complete registration and enrolment for the new academic year, you might have a hold against your record. This could be because you:

  • haven’t achieved the minimum required grade for a course
  • have failed to meet minimum requirements for progression
  • Are on the wrong plan in MyCampus
  • have outstanding work to submit
  • Are a senior honours student who has an MV (Medical/Good Cause Assessment) or CW (Credit Withheld) for a Junior Honours course. If your subject has given you permission to progress, let the Arts Advising Team know and provide proof of confirmation of this from the subject.

If you think there may be a hold on your record, contact the Arts Advising team at arts-advising@glasgow.ac.uk.
