Next steps when you get an offer
Once you receive an offer from us there are a few things you need to do. Some of these steps will depend on whether you applied through UCAS or through Common App.
Offer holders
Accepting your offer and confirming your place
UCAS applicants
You can either:
- accept your offer from us as your first choice (Firm accept)
- accept it as your second choice (Insurance accept)
- or decline.
Log in to your UCAS hub to make your choice.
More information about replying to offers is available on UCAS.
Once you have chosen your Firm and Insurance choices on UCAS, all other offers will be automatically declined.
If you wish to make changes to your replies, you will need to contact UCAS and the universities affected by the change. Please note, there is no guarantee that a reply swap will be approved so it is important to carefully consider your choices before you submit replies to your offers.
Common App applicants
To accept or decline your offer with us please log in to your Gateway To Glasgow portal and select the My Offer tile.
If you have made your reply but have changed your mind, please contact our Admissions Enquiry Team within 14 days to update your reply.
Uploading documents
UCAS applicants
If your qualifications are not being sent directly to us by SQA or JCQ via UCAS, you will need to self-upload documentary evidence to your Applicant Self-Service.
You will be able to upload documents via the to-do list section. From here you will see any documents we have requested you to upload. You will also have the option to upload any supporting documents via this section.
To access the to do list on Applicant Self-Service please:
- click applications
- choose the application you wish to upload document(s) to
- click application status
- click to-do list.
You will be able to confirm a document has been successfully uploaded when the item in the to-do list changes status and says "received". When the status changes to "received" this means that the Admissions Officer has been notified that the uploaded documents are available to view.
After the Admissions Officer has reviewed your documents, the status of a to-do list item will change to "complete" if all is in order with the documents uploaded. However, if the status changes to "returned" this means that the document was not accepted, and we require further documentation from you. If you have any queries about a returned document, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us to request further clarification.
You will be able to upload documents through the online application form before you submit your application.
If you are trying to upload documents to a submitted application then you must use Applicant Self-Service. Make sure you are in Applicant Self-Service and not the Online Application form.
Documents must be uploaded in .jpg, .jpeg or .pdf format and must not exceed 5MB in size. There is a maximum 10MB upload size for all documents with the application.
If you still need extra support please see our help guide:
Common App applicants
You can upload documents in your Gateway to Glasgow Portal. You can only upload documents that have been requested by an Admissions Officer. You will see any requested documents in the My Documents section of the portal. If there are no items listed in your My Documents section, it means we do not require any documents from you at this time.
Documents must be uploaded in .jpg, .jpeg or .pdf format and must not exceed 5MB in size. There is a maximum 10MB upload size for all documents with the application.

Accommodation
UCAS applicants
As an offer holder you can start to apply for our student accommodation after you have accepted that offer.
What you must do next will depend on whether you have been offered a conditional or an unconditional offer of study at Glasgow.

Common App
Applicants using Common App are guaranteed accommodation but cannot submit an application for accommodation until they have met all conditions of their offer and have had their application transferred through UCAS into our student records system.
This is why it is important for Common App applicants only submit through either Common App or UCAS. If you have applied to other institutions using UCAS, this will create delays in importing your record into our system and may delay your accommodation application.
Applying for finance
UCAS applicants
You can apply for student finance before your place is confirmed, and up to nine months after you start your course.
We recommend applying as soon as you can to ensure you receive your funds in time for the start of your studies. Late applications may mean a delay in receipt of your payments at the start of term.
