Summary
Expand your communication skills so you can interact with native speakers in many daily situations and familiar matters. You will develop your range of vocabulary and grammar, becoming more independent and being able to talk about your experiences and your environment. You will also be able to use the language to deal with routine situations you may encounter when travelling to an area where the language is spoken, making use of your increased cultural awareness.
Choose this course if you want to:
- Interact in everyday situations and short conversations, and exchange ideas and information on familiar topics.
- Become acquainted with the language necessary to deal with some common matters regularly encountered in daily situations.
- Start to develop language skills to describe personal experiences and events with some detail.
- Have opportunities to practise your skills with other speakers of the language
Who is this course for?
This course is recommended for learners who have a basic knowledge of the language or have completed a Post-Beginner or A2 course (for example, a National 5 or Higher Tier GCSE).
In this course, you will be working at level A2 and towards level B1 of the Common European Framework of Languages.

Qualifications/credits
Course assessment is optional but on successful completion you will obtain 10 credits at Level 1 (SCQF 7).
Mode of study
Language classes are interactive and collaborative, with plenty of exposure to the language and many opportunities to practise and learn with your peers.
You will also have access to Moodle, the University’s virtual learning environment, where you will find additional activities for you to practise what you have learnt in class and to extend your knowledge.
Prospects
At this level you will be able to manage everyday interactions and exchanges with speakers of the language on familiar topics.
Or you can progress to the next step, Lower Intermediate B1, to continue to develop your skills in the language
