Careers

Diplomat, lawyer, theatre director, publisher, sports interpreter, charity manager, food and drinks buyer, buyer for the fashion industry, analyst for GCHQ… our students have taken their skills in languages and cultures into a huge range of careers.

SMLC Careers complements existing University of Glasgow Career Services by providing targeted events and information for students in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures.

The School Employability Officer and the SMLC Student Employability Ambassadors (SEAs) shape how we engage with employability in SMLC. The Employability Officer is a member of academic staff who supports Employability within the School. The SEAs are three SMLC students, appointed for one year to Events, Digital & Communication, and Development placements. SEAs take a prominent role alongside the Employability Officer in planning and providing a range of events to support SMLC students looking ahead to professional life after studying.

Current SMLC students can keep up-to-date with SMLC Employability and Careers news, resources and information by visiting the SMLC Careers Moodle, as well as by following School media (Twitter, etc.).

The SMLC Careers Moodle can be found here (current students are automatically subscribed to the Moodle forum):
