Our partners
The Environmental Justice Law Clinic is proud to partner with the Environmental Rights Centre for Scotland (ERCS), a national legal charity working to ensure that everyone in Scotland can understand, use, and strengthen environmental law.
Our partnership provides students with direct, practical experience in environmental law and policy, while supporting ERCS’s mission to advance environmental rights and justice across Scotland.
About ERCS
The Environmental Rights Centre for Scotland is an independent, non-profit organisation that works to champion environmental rights and promote access to justice in environmental matters. ERCS helps individuals and communities understand and assert their rights to a healthy environment, and engages in legal, policy, and advocacy work to influence environmental governance at all levels of decision-making.
For more information about ERCS, visit www.ercs.scot.
Working Together
In collaboration with ERCS, the Clinic contributes to legal and policy projects aimed at enhancing the right to a healthy environment. Through this partnership we:
- conduct policy analysis and legal research on emerging environmental issues;
- draft consultation responses, briefing papers and advocacy materials;
- explore comparative and international frameworks for environmental rights;
- support strategic efforts to bolster access to environmental justice in Scotland.
Student Experience
Students participating in the Clinic gain first-hand insight into:
- The realities of environmental legal work in Scotland.
- The process of policy development and law reform.
- How to apply environmental justice principles in practice.
Through this partnership, students develop professional skills in legal research, policy analysis, and public interest advocacy while contributing to the more effective and fair environmental governance in Scotland.
