Testimonies

“Participating in the FSJ Project during my time at Glasgow uni (LLM) has been one of (if not the) best experience I've had the chance to participate in. I have learned so much over time - looking back, I realise how much progress I've made over the months and how it increased both my legal knowledge and my determination to pursue a legal career in certain sectors I would not always have considered or that I did not know about.” Student 2, 2018/19 FSJ Project.

“The project also strongly increased my organisational skills. Taking part in the project has been challenging but I would definitely go for it again if I had the chance. Furthermore, the project's "social" aspects is definitely a plus when you spend a year studying loads of corporate-related courses and you start making important career choices. I see it as very important for young students and future lawyers to pursue extra-curricular projects that make us keep in mind how powerful law can be to impact society positively and see beyond individual interests.” Student 2, FSJ Project 2019.

“Above all, the FSJ Project has given me the opportunity to get to know the working methods of environmental law firms or even NGOs. Moreover, in the project there was a strong team spirit that motivated all of us to work together towards our goals and to achieve something positive for society. Not to mention the people we got to know and the friendships we made, which I have taken with me after leaving Glasgow.” Student 4, FSJ Project 2019

“The FSJ Project was an interesting change to the other courses offered in the LLM. Even though the seminar-style courses of the LLM were always interesting, the Project was a different working experience. Instead of working through a list of materials given by the professors, the Project was about doing our own research, approaching issues from a different angle and developing strategies on how to achieve certain outcomes. Albeit challenging, the Project was an excellent thing to do in addition to the regular LLM and has enriched my personal LLM experience.” Student 7, FSJ Project 2020

“It was a 10 out of 10! Indeed, it increased the need for an effective time management. But it also helped me understand the practical use of what was taught in my LLM courses. Furthermore, the project facilitated friendships. It made us grow and evolve as a team. Working “overtime” apart from ordinary curricular activities welded us together more than exams could.” Student 9, FSJ Project 2020

"I really felt that the course taught me how to critically engage with material that I genuinely cared about as opposed to simply teaching technical content. I also really enjoyed the small size of the course as it allowed me to get to know all of my coursemates and the lecturers well." Student 2, FSJ Project 2022

"The overall concept is great and very refreshing compared to other courses. Though certainly one of the most challenging courses, it was also one of the most stimulating ones." Student 5, FSJ Project 2023
