GCILS

Glasgow Centre for International Law and Security (GCILS) is home to a cosmopolitan community of around 30 active research staff and doctoral students. The breadth of expertise and interest of our researchers enables us to boast of 12 specialist areas within the field of international law and security. The internationally recognised research and consultancy work carried out by GCILS staff provides the basis for our academic programmes and executive training.

The aim of the Centre is to continue to foster the links and knowledge exchange between our world-leading academic research and training, and our growing portfolio of legal practice and partnership with a range of public and private actors. At the GCILS we see the relationship between our academic excellence and the strong emphasis on the practical application of international law carried out by our staff members as cross-cutting and mutually beneficial. Our commitment to tackling the issues and problems facing the international legal order at theoretical, policy, and legal practice level is exactly what makes the GCILS a unique hub for understanding and navigating law and security at the international level.
