Congratulations and very well done to the Institute’s Rheumatosphere team, who completed the Hebridean Cycle Way, covering 185 miles and travelling across ten islands over four days, from Monday 14 to Thursday 17 May.

Earlier in 2018, the team were awarded funding from the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) as part of the 'Don't Delay Connect Today' campaign to contribute towards a public engagement project.

The project focused on the urgent need for early diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disease (MSD) in the Outer Hebridean islands.

Taking their message to some of the hardest to reach areas of Scotland, they combined engagement activities with a sponsored cycle, taking in the some stunning scenery and challenging weather conditions, culminating in an end-of-cycle event in Stornoway, Lewis.

They team were delighted to gain support from professional cyclist, Mark Beaumont, who launched the Hebridean Way in 2016.

So far, the team have raised an impressive £2,872.77 for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). That’s 71% of their £4000 target - you can still support them at their JustGiving page.
