Life Sciences ranked 41st in QS World University Rankings By Subject

University of Glasgow Life Sciences, which includes Sii's Microbiology and Immunology degrees, has ranked 41st in the world in the 2026 QS World University Rankings By Subject. Released on Wednesday, 25 March, the placement represents a rise on last year and makes the Life Sciences portfolio UofG's highest-placed subject area.

University of Glasgow Life Sciences, which includes Sii's Microbiology and Immunology degrees, has ranked 41st in the world in the 2026 QS World University Rankings By Subject.
The QS World University Rankings By Subject analyse 1,912 institutions across 55 narrow subjects, condensing these into five broad subject areas.
Released on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, UofG placed in the world top 100 in three of those areas, with the full results as follows:
- Life Sciences and Medicine – 41st
- Arts and Humanities – 66th
- Social Sciences and Management – 85th
- Engineering and Technology – 140th
- Natural Sciences – 149th
The ranking of 41st represents a climb of one place on last year, and ensures Life Sciences has placed in the world top 50 in eight of the last nine QS standings.
