We have a Bio-Rad Bio-Plex Luminex 200 plate reader. This is a laser based system that allows the simultaneous assay of up to 100 analytes in a single well of a microtiter plate by using antibody coated beads which bind the analytes. A reporter antibody with another dye then quantifies the amount of analyte on the bead.
The advantages of this system are the low volume of sample required (50μL), the ability to perform multiple analyte detection on one sample, sensitivity and speed.
Data is acquired and analysed using Luminex Xponent 4.3
This machine is validated on a monthly basis.
Applications: immunoassays – cytokine and chemokine detection, nucleic acid assays, receptor ligand assays, and enzyme assays.
Use of this instrument is charged at £100/per plate for ALL users.
