Published: 2 May 2018

Whether you are new to IHW or an existing staff member or student, please take this opportunity to refresh your memory about key policies, procedures and services aimed at supporting wellbeing, equality, and personal and professional development

Feedback from colleagues who are relatively new to IHW has indicated that, even after induction, there can be uncertainty about some of our policies and procedures, or where key information can be found.

Whether you are relatively new to IHW or an existing staff member (perhaps even of many years standing!) or PGR student, please take this opportunity to refresh your memory about key university and institute policies, procedures and services aimed at supporting wellbeing, equality, and personal and professional development.

These are the services and topics that new staff tell us they feel least clear about or aware of as they come to the end of their induction period:

  • Staff counselling service
(also known as PAM Assist, and formerly known as Employee Assistance Programme)
An external and independent service, based in Glasgow, offered free and confidentially to all UofG staff
  • Organisational development
Department responsible for organising and delivering training to UofG staff and students
  • Promotion/regrading
Information on HR website about career progression

But please also take a few minutes to familiarise - or refamiliarise - yourself with these other key guidelines and services:

University of Glasgow

Institute of Health and Wellbeing

All our guidelines and policies are now available as web versions, linked to from a central page

These include:

Information about our equality, diversity and inclusion activities is available on our Athena SWAN webpages

If you have recently joined IHW and need or would like additional information about UofG or institute policies, practices and culture, please speak to your line manager or unit administrator who will be able to point you in the direction of the relevant resources. Alternatively or as well as, you may consult the IHW e-Induction Moodle siteUofG induction hub or UofG staff handbook.
