Findings from the MAP Study, funded by Versus Arthritis and led by Barbara Nicholl with colleagues in General Practice and Primary Care and the School of Infection and Immunity, have been developed into two short animations.

The first animation considers the findings from our qualitative work, where we spoke to 80 people living with rheumatoid arthritis/persistent pain with and without other long-term conditions. We explored the work that they have to do to manage their conditions (treatment burden) and what effects their capacity to manage this workload.

The second animation summarises our findings from the quantitative work-packages of MAP where we used UK Biobank and the Scottish Early Rheumatoid Arthritis (SERA) inception cohort to examine the pattern of long-term condition reporting in people with persistent pain and rheumatoid arthritis and associations with health-related outcomes.

Animation 2

To date there have been five scientific papers published from this study with further papers at draft/submission stage. A third animation is planned to accompany our work on quality-of-life outcomes for people with rheumatoid arthritis and multiple long-term conditions, using data from the SERA cohort.
