The workshop that will take place on Wednesday 03 May 2023 from 10am to 4pm in the UofG Advanced Research Centre (The ARC).

This participatory workshop is designed for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and other professionals whose work or interests lie in understanding how children’s movement, mobility and experience of place can act as a lever to improving child health and reducing inequalities.

SPACES is a Scotland-wide, long-term research study exploring how young people use, experience, and move within their environments. The project is conducting research across four main areas:

  1. physical activity;
  2. exposure to unhealthy commodities;
  3. use of the physical environment;
  4. links between home neighbourhood and social and emotional outcomes.

Dr Paul McCrorie discusses the study, its impact so far, and future direction in a video created by Enni Miller. A new set of infographics, created by Aoife Madden, give an overview of the study and its findings so far. Each infographic represents one of the project’s four research areas.
