Dr Sheng Wang

Biography
Sheng Wang is a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in the Autonomous Systems and Connectivity Research Division at the University of Glasgow. He currently serves as the Chair of the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) UK and Ireland Chapter, a Member of CIGRE Study Committee WG C6.42, and an Editor of Results in Engineering (IF: 9.4). He was a Lecturer/Assistant Professor at Cardiff University (2020-2025) and a part-time Research Fellow at the Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult (2022-2025).
He has (co)-led 19 projects funded by EPSRC, Innovate UK, STEC, EC Horizon Europe and multiple industry partners, and (co)-authored >60 papers and chapters for two IEEE/Wiley and Elsevier books.

Research interests
He has nearly 16+ years of experience in DC power networks and power electronics (PE). He has acted as principal or co-investigator in 18 projects.
Ongoing projects cover the development of active gate drivers, reliability analysis of PE, data-driven design optimisation of compound-semiconductor-based converters, DC technology for offshore wind energy integration, solar battery energy storage systems, and protection solutions for low- to high-voltage DC power systems.
