Dr Ahmed Zoha

Dr. Ahmed Zoha earned his PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in July 2014 from the University of Surrey (UniS), UK, and his MSc degree in Communication Engineering from Chalmers University, Sweden.
Dr. Zoha has research expertise in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, advanced signal processing, and state-of-the-art self-learning strategies, and he has more than 12 years of experience in designing intelligent applications and algorithms in the domain of 5G and beyond wireless communication systems, connected healthcare, internet of everything and smart energy monitoring systems.
His research work is centred around a broad range of machine learning applications spanning 5G & beyond network optimization, human behavior modeling for clinical interventions, non-intrusive load monitoring, and he strongly advocates the use of AI for social good. His research has been cited by national and international bodies, regulators, the media and he has also received two IEEE best paper awards.
From 2013 to 2016 Dr. Zoha served as a lead research scientist at Qatar Mobility Innovation Center (QMIC) on Quality Aware Self-Organizing networks (QSON) project worth $1.45 million that focuses on designing AI-driven algorithms for making future cellular systems scalable, adaptive and stable. As part of doctoral and post-doctoral research, he had the opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary and internationally multimillion-funded research projects including Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded project REDUCE, EU FP 7 Smart Santander, and HSJ 2018 award winner NHS UK funded TIHM.
Dr. Zoha has a research portfolio of more than £1 million and contributed to more than 40 leading international technical journal and peer-reviewed conference papers and received several recognitions for his research. Dr. Zoha got an endorsement as a UK exceptional talent candidate, awarded to early-career world-leading innovators and scientists by the Royal Academy of Engineering under the UKBA Tier 1 program.
Dr. Zoha has been a member of the technical program committees of several IEEE flagship conferences and technical reviewer for several IEEE and top-notch journals. He has contributed to organising several IEEE conferences, workshops, and special sessions.
