Ultrasound Electronics and Systems

, Prof Sandy Cochran

Driving the transducers, transmitting and receiving ultrasound information, converting signals into images, are the ultrasound electronics. Being used in novel devices, some as small as ingestible capsules, requires new electronics and new manufacturing processes to make them. These include the design and implementation of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), chips designed for specific uses, and the associated packaging and integration with other electronics.

Ultrasound systems are a broad range of devices from medical imaging machines to off-world and hazardous environment drills. They are fully operational devices which incorporate ultrasound electronics.
