James Watt School of Engineering was pleased to announce the very well deserved promotion to Professor of Dr Hadi Heidari - a research star who started his career as a lecturer in the Glasgow College UESTC team only 6 years ago, advancing quickly to the highest academic rank. Professor Muhammad Imran, Dean University of Glasgow UESTC and UofG Professor of Communication Systems, notes: Hadi "has demonstrated excellent contributions" and it is hoped "his shining example will be an encouragement to all our other research stars who are almost there, as well as the early career researchers who are on track to this destination".

Professor Hedari delivers teaching on behalf of the University of Glasgow for courses on degree programmes at Glasgow College, UESTC. Along with his lecturing work he leads the Magnetoelectronics Laboratory (meLAB) which conducts pioneering research on integrated microelectronics design for medical (wearables and implantables) and industrial (quantum computing and ultrasound systems) applications.

Prof Heidari's research has been funded circa £4m by major research councils and funding organizations, including the UKRI (EPSRC and Innovate UK), European Commission, the Royal Society, British Council, Scottish Funding Council, and Royal Society of Edinburgh. He is a member of the RSE Young Academy of Scotland (YAS) and a member of the eFutures Steering Group (an EPSRC-funded network representing the UK’s electronic systems academic community). He is a member of EPSRC College and reviews proposals for the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ), the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the Royal Society of New Zealand. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and Fellow of Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA).
