Student Social Committee

The School of Education Social Committee helps students in our School to network, support and socialise with their colleagues and is based out the Student Common Room (level 5).

The committee is committed to organising events that help students integrate and expand on the School of Education’s commitment to social justice. This includes a variety of regular events within the school such as: 

  • Peer-to-peer networking 
  • Picnics/social trips- sightseeing and trips beyond Glasgow.  
  • Community outreach events 
  • Helping in the organisation of regular school social events – Halloween, St Andrew’s Ceilidh, Winter Warmer, Party like its 1999.   
  • Casual social eventsBonfire night, comedy/music nights within the Glasgow area.  
  • Support for Clubs and Societies within the School of Education.  

The membership of this Committee is comprised entirely of students from the School of Education from a diverse range of background and changes on a rolling basis. The Committee always welcomes new members at any time of year and operates mainly out of the Student Common Room on Level 5 of the St Andrews Building.

If you are interested in joining the committee or volunteering at events, please e-mail the co-ordinator via education-social-committee@glasgow.ac.uk to let them know and they will ensure that you are co-opted into the committee. 

  • An application is pending for students to get HEAR recognition for their efforts on this committee if they reach a minimum number of volunteering hours.
