Biography

I came to the University of Glasgow in February 2016 as part of an Endeavour Research Fellowship from the Australian Government. From August 2016, I took up the post of Research Fellow in Education Policy and Social Justice working with Professor Trevor Gale.

I have been a Lecturer in Education since January 2022. I am also Managing Editor of the journal Critical Studies in Education, having worked with the journal since 2012.

I bring to the School of Education a broad interest and knowledge of social theory, expertise in higher education systems, extensive expertise in research projects, and a developing publication track record.

My research interests include:

  • higher education policy
  • social justice in education
  • critical social theory

I have a number of publications in this area including the editied books Practice Methodologies in Education Research (Routledge, 2020), and Policy and Inequality in Education (Springer, 2017).

Prior to working at the University of Glasgow, I was a research fellow in the Centre for Research in Education Futures and Innovation, at Deakin University in Melbourne Australia. From 2008 to 2012 I was a researcher in Australia’s National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education hosted by the University of South Australia.

From 2018-2021 I was the Publications Manager for REF UoA 23 (Education). This entailed compiling staff outputs for internal review, collating reviews, conducting reviews, and contributing to the final selections of outputs for the REF submission in March 2021.
