Dr Stephen Parker

Biography

I came to the University of Glasgow in February 2016 as part of an Endeavour Research Fellowship from the Australian Government. From August 2016, I took up the post of Research Fellow in Education Policy and Social Justice working with Professor Trevor Gale. I am also Managing Editor of the journal Critical Studies in Education.

I bring to the School of Education a broad interest and knowledge of social theory, expertise in higher education systems, extensive expertise in research projects, and a developing publication track record.

My research interests include:

  • higher education policy
  • social justice in education
  • critical social theory
  • critiques of positivist research paradigms

I have a number of publications in this area including the editied book Policy and Inequality in Education.

Prior to working at the University of Glasgow, I was a research fellow in the Centre for Research in Education Futures and Innovation, at Deakin University in Melbourne Australia. From 2008 to 2012 I was a researcher in Australia’s National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education hosted by the University of South Australia.
