University of Glasgow Educational Assessment Network (UGEAN)
The University of Glasgow Educational Assessment Network advances knowledge and practice of assessment in education to support the learning and achievement of children and young people. Our work explores assessment as it relates to learning, curriculum, and pedagogy, and seeks to understand the role and potential of assessment in system change and educational reform. We also explore the various assumptions, challenges and consequences for pupils and students when assessment information is used for the purposes of accountability or to judge effectiveness at different levels in education systems.
We undertake a variety of forms of empirical and theoretical research and scholarship, with participatory and collaborative approaches featuring prominently, though not exclusively, in what we do. We have a rich history of working with policymakers, teachers and practitioners nationally and internationally to make a positive difference for children and young people.
