Evelyn McLaren and Clare Smith in collaboration with Cliona Murphy and Greg Smith from Dublin City University have recently been awarded funding from SCoTENS (The Standing Conference of Teacher Education, North and South).

Evelyn McLaren and Clare Smith have worked in collaboration with Cliona Murphy and Greg Smith from Dublin City University since 2020 on a project concerning the knowledge of and attitudes to science and science education in beginning undergraduate primary education students. This initial work has involved surveying over 1000 student teachers across Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland. The collaboration has been extended to include all members of the Irish Association of Primary Science Education.

They have recently been awarded funding from SCoTENS (The Standing Conference of Teacher Education, North and South) to host a one-day meeting in Dublin to launch the report of initial findings and provide networking opportunities for future collaboration between the School of Education and our Irish colleagues.
