start the journey”

My research is examining to what extent is teacher practice affected by changes in education policy within Scotland and England. My supervisors are Professor Louise Hayward and Professor Christopher Chapman.

My PhD studies have completely changed everything that I wanted to do. I currently work full-time in England as a Secondary Science teacher. I would like to move on following my PhD to work in teacher training or education research. I love the academic environment of Higher Education and now know that this is where I wish to work for the rest of my career.

As a remote-study student, my best times are when I am actually able to come and visit Glasgow. I had a fantastic weekend two years ago where I was able to visit on the Friday to complete academic work and then explore Glasgow at the weekend. I cycled to Loch Lomond on a day with weather that was unusually very warm! Putting a PhD on top of full-time work has been an extreme challenge at times. It has definitely enriched it though and I would recommend anyone to start the journey.
