CERES Blogs: The Potential of Children’s Literature to Confront Issues of Injustice

Published: 2 February 2021

This is the first blog of 2021 and focuses on how children’s literature can be used by mediators to confront local and global issues of injustice, reduce prejudice and educate about racism.

The release of the blog was timed to coincide with Scottish Languages Week with a focus on how an early years teacher used Mr Wuffles by David Wiesner to challenge monolingual ideologies that silence multilingualism. The blog also offers insights into Rudine Sims Bishop’s metaphors of mirrors, windows and doors and provides links to a pedagogical tool kit that can be used to explore the literature.
