Rufus Ross receives the Lindsay Memorial Medal from Rachel Bairsto , President

At the recent Annual Meeting in Lincoln of the Lindsay Society for the History of Dentistry, the Lindsay Memorial Medal, the Society’s highest award, was presented to Rufus Ross, LDS (1947) PhD (1994) , Honorary Senior Research Fellow, in recognition of his contributions to the study of dental history. Rufus was formerly Secretary and then Chairman of the Glasgow-based Henry Noble History of Dentistry Research Group.


At the same meeting David McGowan (Emeritus Professor of Oral Surgery and former Dean) was elected President of the Lindsay Society from 2016.
(Lilian Lindsay was the first woman to qualify as a dentist in the UK, in 1895).
