A one-day meeting jointly organised by the Dental School with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh held on 4 September at RCPS Glasgow is a great success

The Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons and the University of Glasgow Dental School, in partnership with the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, organised a joint symposium on 4 September 2014.

The meeting, entitled ‘The Francis Report and the Dental Team – What it Means For You’ was designed to highlight and publicise the key conclusions and recommendations of the Francis Reports (2010 and 2013) for those delivering oral healthcare. Ninety eight delegates attended from a wide variety of backgrounds were treated to a day of outstanding presentations from those in Government, the GDC, hospital managers, clinicians, academics and the medico-legal profession.

Concluding remarks by the Chief Dental Officer summed up the meeting’s main messages on patient-centred care, stressing the central importance of the Francis Report findings to all branches of healthcare and alluded to the success of the day in raising awareness.
