Biography

Gabriel Cervantes received a Ph.D. in English Languate and Literature from Princeton University in 2009. He has taught and supervised students at the University of North Texas, Vanderbilt University, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Chamaign, and, since 2019, at the University of Glasgow in the Schools of Critical Studies and Education.

His research on Anglophone culture focuses on the intersection of law and literature, book history, and literary recovery with an emphasis on the period between 1660 and 1800. His articles have appeared in ELH, Eighteenth-Century FictionThe Eighteenth Century: Theory and Interpretation, Romanticism, and the William and Mary Quarterly. With Geoffrey Sill he is editor of Daniel Defoe's Colonel Jack, a 2017 recpient of the MLA Committee on Scholarly Editions Seal for an MLA Approved Edition.

At the School of Education, he works in the MEd program for Children's Literature and Literacy and the Erasmus Mundus International Master in Children’s Literature, Media and Culture (CLMC).
