Minerva Scholarships

The School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow invites applications for two Minerva Scholarships to support both research and teaching. These scholarships are designed for students undertaking a part-time PhD while contributing to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Scholarship details

  • Duration: 5 years
  • Time commitment: Around two-thirds research and one-third teaching (including preparation, contact time, and marking)
  • Start date: October 2026 (no later than 12 January 2027)

Funding package

  • Remuneration of at least £20,188 per year for living expenses
  • Tuition fees at the home level
  • For exceptional international applicants, consideration will be given to waiving the difference between international and home fees

Research

Minerva Scholarships are open to all areas of Computing Science research being actively pursued within the School.

Teaching

Successful applicants will contribute to teaching throughout the academic session, including:

  • Tutoring
  • Demonstrating
  • Project supervision (undergraduate and postgraduate levels)

  • Applications must include a teaching statement covering:
    • Why you wish to teach
    • Why you are suitable for the opportunity
    • Previous teaching experience (if applicable)
