Sun Yat-Sen University
Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU), also known as Zhongshan University, was founded in 1924 by the first President of China and named after him. It is located on several campuses around the city of Guangzhou (Canton). It is a national “key” university, and is consistently ranked among the top 15 universities in China. SYSU'ss mission is to “advance knowledge and educate students in arts, science, technology, and other academic areas that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century".

In 2008, the University of Glasgow signed a partnership agreement with SYSU’s School of Information Science & Technology. This enables students to study for two years at SYSU followed by two years at Glasgow, leading to the degree of BSc (Hons) Computing Science or BEng (Hons) Electronics & Electrical Engineering. Students normally complete their studies at the BSc/BEng stage, though they may elect to study for an additional year for the award of MSci or MEng, subject to satisfying the progression criteria.
The partnership agreement provided me with a combination of education from two top universities in the eastern and western world. The first two BSc (Hons) Computing Science students from SYSU arrived in Glasgow in September 2011 and graduated in summer 2013.
Eligible students are admitted to the third year of the BSc (Hons) Computing Science or BEng (Hons) in Electronics & Electrical Engineering programme.
The BSc (Hons) Computing Science and MSci Computing Science programmes are delivered by the School of Computing Science.
Student eligibility
You undertake two years study at Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU) on an approved syllabus which is concomitant with the qualifications normally required for entry to the honours curriculum at Glasgow; the admission and progress of students on Part 1 is the sole responsibility of SYSU. Students who have successfully completed Part 1 examinations and any other requirements to the satisfaction of SYSU will be considered for entry into Part 2.
In order to qualify for entry to Part 2, you must provide evidence of English language proficiency. This will normally be equivalent to an IELTS qualification of 6.5 overall with no subtest below 6.0.
How to apply
Students who successfully complete their Part 1 study at SYSU may apply for admission to Part 2 at the University of Glasgow via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). The minimum length of study in Part 2 will be two years for the award of an honours degree. On successful entry to Part 2, students will be registered students of the University of Glasgow and will be subject to the University's rules and regulations. They will follow the standard University curriculum for the third and fourth years of the degree programme, or the three years for MSci/MEng, and will be assessed for the award of their degree on exactly the same basis as all other students on their course.

Tuition fees and scholarship
Students admitted onto Part 2 of the collaborative programme are responsible for the standard annual overseas tuition fee to the University of Glasgow and will be eligible to receive a Sun Yat-Sen Glasgow Undergraduate Scholarship which will contribute towards these fees.
