Democracy and the digital society in question

Philip Schlesinger represented the Royal Society of Edinburgh at the international forum on ‘Democracy in a digital society’ held at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities on 24 January 2019. Co-organised by the All European Academies and the Re-imagine Europa task force, this event indicated the deep unease presently assailing European Union institutions and key elites as they are confronted by unpredictable and deep-rooted political changes.

It is intended to produce a ‘Roadmap for a new model of the digital information ecosystem’ in which platform regulation and citizen education will evidently be intended to play a major role.
