Philip Schlesinger gave a public lecture on the creative economy at the London School of Economics on 25 November, to a packed lecture theatre. Introduced and chaired by the LSE Provost and distinguished communications policy researcher, Professor Robin Mansell, Philip's discussants were the leading cultural analyst, Professor Angela McRobbie of Goldsmiths', University of London and Professor Jonothan Neelands, a creative educationist at the University of Warwick. A lively Q&A session followed. The lecture ranged over the evolution of creative industries thinking, questions of cultural and economic value, the role of academic research, and the role of cultural intermediaries in delivering state policies.
