CCPR goes to MeCCSA 2100

CCPR was well represented at the Media, Communication and Cultural Studies’ Associations 2010 annual conference at the LSE. The conference theme was “Media, Communication, Policy and Practice’ and attracted over 300 delegates.

Philip Schlesinger spoke on behalf of Media, Culture & Society at the well-attended ‘Meet the Editors’ session. He also gave a closing plenary paper in the panel on ‘The Challenges of the Cultural Industries’.

Lisa Kelly presented a joint paper written with Raymond Boyle on ‘The Television Entrepreneurs: Audience Engagement with The Apprentice and Dragons’ Den’.

For her part, Melanie Selfe spoke on ‘Film Critics in the Circle: Negotiating Professional Standards Prestige and Strength’.

Gillian Doyle gave the Treasurer’s Report to the MECCSA AGM and has now stood down as joint Treasurer and Membership Secretary, a post in which she stabilised and significantly enhanced the association’s finances.
