James W. Martin is a Robotics PhD student, working under the supervision of Professor Pietro Valdastri at the University of Leeds, UK. His main area of research is concerned with the use of Robotics to assist in the actuation of magnetic capsules to explore the lower gastro intestinal tract for evidence of colorectal cancer. James received his Master’s degree in Robotics at the University of Bristol, UK. Here he focused on Medical Robotics, specifically using Robotics to trace bone fragments in fracture reduction surgery. Prior to this, James received his Bachelor’s degree in Robotics at the University of Plymouth, UK. Here he also spent a year working in the field of Robotic automation for industrial manufacturing. For the Sonopill project, James is contributing to the development of magnetically actuating an ultrasound capsule with the assistance of Robotics.
