Dr Paula Dumas

Dr Paula Dumas is a historian of slavery and abolition in the British Empire. She currently teaches short courses on slavery and Scottish history for Lifelong Learning at the University of Glasgow. One of her most popular courses, Exploring Scotland's Slavery Past in Five Locations, delves into Scotland's historic connections to slavery abroad and at home (including the University of Glasgow itself). Her research interests centre on the nature of abolition movements in the former British Empire, including the Caribbean and Canadian colonies and their Scottish connections.
