The Centre for Scottish and Celtic Studies Seedcorn Fund supported Orla's fieldwork trip to Galloway as part of her PhD project on The Archaeological, Landscape and Historical Context of the Galloway Hoard. This was her first opportunity to do fieldwork since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. The funding from CSCS meant she was able to travel down for a full week and visit a large number of sites around Galloway. This trip greatly enhanced her understanding of Galloway’s landscape and sites. She was lucky enough to have a week of glorious sunshine, not normally in keeping with Scottish archaeological trips! The ability to visit sites from the Rhinns to the Urr has greatly enhanced her understanding of Galloway and has formed an excellent base for her PhD research going forward.
