Students search the literature thoroughly and produce a critical in depth review of a specialised area of nutrition.
The course will be delivered with weekly sessions at the end of semester one and beginning of semester two.
A critical in depth review of relevant studies in a focussed area (4000-5000 words).
This course aims to allow students to develop skills in searching, reviewing, evaluating, critically appraising and interpreting relevant scientific literature in order to produce a critical in depth review of a specialised area of nutrition.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
■ Critically review, evaluate, appraise and interpret scientific literature in topics in nutrition.
■ Selectively extract and critique information from published and unpublished (grey literature) sources and use this to answer a key nutrition question.
■ Compose a review article in a format suitable for a relevant peer reviewed journal.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
