Isabel Rodríguez Toribio

'Prior to arriving in Glasgow for my Masters, I simultaneously completed two undergraduate degrees at the Carlos III University of Madrid: a BA in Journalism and a BA in Film, Television and Media. Once I finished in Madrid, I decided that I wanted to develop an international career and I chose the University of Glasgow to help me to archive this goal. The quality of the programme and the University, as well as the practical experience that this Masters gives were key factors to choose it as my preferred option. After finishing it, I can just confirm that this MRes offers the perfect balance between theory and practice, and that the quality of the courses and professors is outstanding. I found the trip to Geneva really useful and extremely interesting that the programme offers at the end of the academic year. I decided to pursue the MRes rather than MSc version of this programme in order to be prepared for the doctoral work, receiving the relevant research training necessary to continue with your academic career. Upon completing my MRes, I was offered different traineeships in international organisations and I successfully applied for an internship with the Spanish Permanent Mission to the UN and II.OO in Vienna, where I was able to specialise in UNODC’s topics. Currently, I am thrilled when people ask me what I do and I can say that I am a PhD candidate at the University of Glasgow, where I learnt and grown as a person and a researcher and where I will always do so.'
