Short Description

This course will present the broader context for the proliferation of Digital Health Interventions (DHIs) and their choice as a potential solution to a range of health problems and needs. Students will understand the technological, analytical, health and policy drivers for DHIs. The course will introduce students to the variety of formats through which DHIs are designed and delivered and will be introduced to the principles of applying theory in choosing DHIs for different contexts and health needs.

Course Aims

The course aims to introduce students to the broader context for the proliferation of Digital Health Interventions (DHIs) and their choice as a potential solution to a range of health problems and needs.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

 

1. Critically interrogate and identify the main technological, theoretical, analytic, policy and health drivers for Digital Health Intervention development, evaluation and implementation.

2. Describe the taxonomy of DHIs and critically analyse their applications for health needs.

3. Critically assess the costs and benefits of DHIs and evaluate current issues and controversies in DHIs.

4. Critically evaluate the role of health inequalities and patient empowerment in the development and application of DHIs.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
