2:00pm – 4:00pm: MAGMa Programme Induction

Location: Students will recieve a Zoom link via email

A week prior to the in-person induction in Lisbon, this online session will provide a structured introduction to the MAGMa programme. Dr Allan Madden, MAGMa Programme Director, will offer a formal welcome and present an overview of the programme, including the University of Glasgow’s online courses.

Students will receive essential guidance on seasonal schools, registration, insurance, and course enrolment, ensuring all administrative requirements are clear before the start of the semester. The session will conclude with a live Q&A, providing the opportunity to address any questions and clarify details.

Tuesday 23 September 2025 (In-person)

10:00am – 1.00pm: Welcome & Induction at ISCTE

Location: Auditorium J.J. Laginha, Building 1, ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa

The day begins with presentations from all MAGMa partner institutions (ISCTE, FLUL, IESA, EUR), giving you an overview of your academic journey and the opportunities ahead. You’ll meet your fellow students, share a bit about yourself during formal student introductions, and take part in a Q&A session with MAGMa staff, allowing you to ask questions and gain insights.

Note: This session will take place from 10:00am to 1.00pm (Lisbon time, UTC+1). Students can arrive from 9:45am. There will be refreshment breaks throughout the morning.

1:00pm – 2.30pm: Lunch with MAGMa Staff

Location: Atrium of Building 2, ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa

After the morning sessions, enjoy a catered lunch with your classmates and MAGMa academic and programme staff. This is a relaxed setting to get to know one another, discuss the morning presentations, and begin forming connections that will support you throughout your studies.

2.30pm – 4.00pm: ISCTE Campus Tour

Location: Students will be guided from lunch to the tour

Following lunch, a guided tour of the ISCTE campus will help you familiarise yourself with key study spaces, student facilities, and common areas. You’ll have the chance to discover spots that will soon feel like your home away from home, and maybe even find your new favourite spot for a coffee and pastel de nata!

4.00pm: MAGMa Student & Staff Social at Casa Ásia & The Botanical Garden

Location: Students will be informed of the meeting point earlier in the day

In the late afternoon, we’ll set off together for a cultural visit to Casa Ásia to experience the renowned Francisco Capelo Collection. Here, we'll enjoy a drinks reception — an ideal opportunity to chat, share first impressions, and start building friendships in a relaxed, informal setting.

To round off the day, we’ll take a leisurely stroll through Lisbon’s Botanical Garden, soaking up its rich history and lush scenery.
